Adjoining Clancy’s Fish Bar and also apart of the Clancy’s name is a small beach shack cafe over looking one of Perth’s pristine beaches, City Beach.
You’ll notice some construction going on where the City of Perth Surf Lifesaving Club used to be, it was bulldozed earlier this year to make way for a a new development that’ll include a contemporary Surf Lifesaving Club, eateries and restaurants, landscaped lawn areas and the connection of the existing cycle path. The 13.4 million dollar plan on the Cambridge website looks quite grand and you can view the details here.
For now though, I’ll enjoy the quiet local atmosphere that City Beach has.
Outdoor seating area
Open from 7am the cafe services the before work and school crowd. For families there is a children’s playground and BBQ grassed area opposite the cafe. The small breakfast menu also includes a kids sized buttermilk pancake breakfast, oh yum! The family dog is also welcome.
Coffee by the ocean
Before work my stop was brief, ordering a coffee and toast with preserves. The cappuccino was milky with a lovely thick layer of milk froth and plenty of chocolate sprinkles on top. The service this morning was cheerful and my order was delivered fairly quick. A breakfast by the beach surely beats a breakfast at my desk.
Multigrain toast with house preserves
Starting a morning at the beach is one of the best ways to mentally set yourself up for whatever the day may throw. The calm blue vista of the ocean, the smell of salt in the air and the physical space, those everyday stresses that consume our minds fall to the soft white sand.

Clancy’s Fish Pub next door is open for lunch and dinner
I am a fan of the relaxing atmosphere that the Clancy’s establishments possess and I can see myself returning during summer time after a swim for a meal.
